Training

Are you a leader looking for ways to improve your ability to lead meetings with clients, vendors and your team? Are you interested in developing a skill that will enable you to provide more effective leadership to your colleagues and exceptional service to your internal and external clients?

This workshop is fast paced and extremely practical. The skills, tools and techniques learned will enable you to lead group decision making and problem solving situations confidently and skillfully, so that the quality of outcomes from the meetings you lead will be consistently high, as will be the level of commitment within the group to follow-through and implement the decisions made.

Each participant will have the opportunity to facilitate a group session based on one of four leadership case studies and receive feedback from a group of their peers, and instructors with substantial experience in facilitating small and large group sessions for public and private organizations.

The focus of this training is practice, not theory . Wherever possible learning takes place in small groups, and is experiential, with lectures kept to a minimum. To facilitate this there will be two instructors leading the training, which enables opportunities for one-to-one coaching for participants.

Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • Use a six step process which will ensure your group facilitations are well planned, designed and executed;
  • Start your group sessions with "Oomph", instantly establishing your credibility;
  • Make your group sessions engaging and interactive so that people look forward to attending;
  • Keep group discussions focused and on track thereby saving everyone’s valuable time;
  • Facilitate a group to reach consensus on important issues using a variety of techniques;
  • Prevent and if necessary manage, unproductive group behaviour and conflict;
  • Deal with difficult participants;
  • Draw out participants when necessary to surface hidden issues; and
  • Guide group decision making, problem solving, ideas generation (‘Brainstorming’), prioritization, action planning, and other important group processes critical to success

In addition, you will receive a comprehensive 'facilitators’ toolkit', which contains all the tools, processes and techniques - over forty in total - you will need to lead successful group facilitations.

Ideal for

All leaders with responsibility for leading any type of group meeting (more than two participants).
