Tailored to the unique needs of legal practice to create competitive advantage, our strategic decision-making approach has four aspects.
- Fact-finding and assessment: Using partner interviews, employee and client surveys and market research as required to fully understand current and future business opportunities, challenges and market realities the practice is facing. This approach generates strategic alternatives for consideration by the partnership and additional important information critical to the success of the decision making process
- Decision-making process selection: Selecting from among the many strategic decision making approaches available, to find the most appropriate for the partnership given resource constraints and the unique priorities of legal practice. The goal is to select one that the partners can enthusiastically endorse and participate in
- Expert facilitation that ensures true consensus between partners is reached on strategic decisions, so that leaders committed fully to the plan drive subsequent implementation.
- Implementation planning: An implementation plan is developed which specifies what is to be done, by whom, costs involved, priorities and time frames to enable the partners to allocate resources effectively and achieve the goals they have set.

- Assess key HR processes such as hiring and professional learning and development to ensure they are ‘retention friendly’ and make recommendations for change if necessary
- Train partners and senior associates to engage and retain the most talented members of their team (the quality of the relationship between partner and associate is the single most important factor in determining whether a talenteda associate leaves, or stays, long enough to ensure a return on the investment the firm has made in him/her)
- Provide approaches that address ‘work, life balance’, which is an issue of significant importance to young lawyers
- Create simple measurement and accountability processes to support employee retention strategies.
